Some things I like

I feel very cranky today. For a lot of different reasons. Partially I don't like where I am with my life right now. I know what I want to do next, and sticking around until I can get to the next feels excruciating. Especially since the next won't happen for about at least 2 or 3 years. That seems so far away. (I can make some changes in the mean time, luckily I don't have to be in stasis.)

Also the next step is very scary to me. I want to pursue a PhD in English and teach on a college level. That's scary. Because that's what I really want to do. At least I think that's what I really want. It's hard to know until I actually try. But if I'm honest with myself this is what I knew I wanted to do on the day I graduated from college. I love universities, I love thinking big thoughts, I love being a dork about literature, I love writing, I love researching. In short I love it all.

But here's the thing about doing what you love and what you want to do. If you fail at it, that's a scary. Whereas if you fail at some blip on the radar job it's no big thing. Because no matter how much our time and energy is consumed by the blip, it is ultimately a blip (at least let's hope, right?). I hope I will be able to look back and laugh about it. Because it needs to be laughed about. Even on the darkest of blipping days.

Besides all of that, I just feel restless. Sort of like a caged animal pacing back and forth. I feel like my life should be bigger than it is right now. Maybe I just need to start thinking bigger. Or maybe it's all about the perspective of what I have now. There's a lot that is awesome about my life.

On that note, here are a few of the awesome things that I like right now.

Omelets. My favorite combination right now is tomato, avocado and cottage cheese, with a little bit of pepper, and if you want some provolone cheese. Trust me, it is sooo good. I put the cottage cheese out on a paper towel for a little bit beforehand so it can drain. I love it.

Jaydiohead. Thought you were the only one who liked Radiohead and Jay-Z? Me too! But not so, Minty Fresh Beats mixed Jay-Z over Radiohead. The result is awesome. And! And you can download it for free! You can listen for free too.

I heard a quote once in a movie where someone is asked their taste in music. They say, "Oh I like a little bit of everything." And the asker says, "So that basically means you have no taste." That pretty much describes me. I like I a little bit of everything. So this mix is perfect.

Sookie Stackhouse Series. Bless you alliteration. I told you about the book I read in a day last week, right? Well it's a series and I have now read through book 7. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of books 8 and 9. Ten will be out in October. There is nothing that fixes me quite like getting lost in a good series. I feel so much better than I did last week. Maybe it's because I get to step outside my life. Maybe I haven't really fixed anything. But being allowed to leave my life is like a godsend. Bless the bff for recommending this. (PS We need to send good vibes her way because her nose got broken while playing soccer last week and she has to go under the knife to get it fixed next Monday. Poor bff. Clumsiness must run in our friendship.)

Gelato. There is a little local place that produces such heavenly flavors like coconut, cinnamon, grapefruit, blood orange, pomegranate, blueberry, honey lavender, oh and my list could go on and on. I love that little place with all my heart. The honey lavender tastes like sunshine, and I'm not just being cheesy. If I close my eyes when I put it in my mouth, I'm instantly taken to a field of lavender and it's perfect sunny weather. It's heaven. I've been going at least once a week for the last month or so. And on Tuesday, I went twice. Bless the warm weather.

Eye shades. I love sleeping with something over my eyes. Couldn't tell you why. But I love the one pictured above.

I feel happier now.

I love about what other people like. What a great list. That gelato sounds sooo good. I will have to try some next time I am visiting my mother. She lives near your area.

I love sleeping with eyeshades too (even though I hate when they smash my eyelashes flat). I also like having my ears covered. Sometimes I sleep in a knitted hat, I pull it down low and it covers my eyes and ears at the same time. Wow, I'm a dork!

Oops, that should have said "I love hearing about..."

I am feeling a lot like yourself these days -- wanting to get started on something new, but having to wait for that something new to come about. In my case its grad school. I mostly likely wont get to start classes until January. I dont want to wait that long. I want a new job, a new path, a new change now.

Oh can I ever relate!! The fact is, hearing you say it though makes me laugh because you will be more than just fine, and you HAVE TIME. I can completely see you as a college professor of English. I will sit in on your classes and maybe sub for you once. You will do it if you're supposed to. One day at a time.

I like this quote...sorry, I don't know the author,
""........Listen to the quiet message from your Higher Self, for there is usually an easier way to do things. You are meant to live a joyful life. You are here to create your dreams; you can create a heaven on earth for yourself. You deserve to have the best life you can imagine. Do what you love and follow your heart in every area of your life, for as you do, you are aligning with the Higher Will."

Jaydiohead=genius. And speaking of combo meals, check this one out.

I don't think it's ever possible to fail at one's passion, one's dream and calling.

If you were born for this, you will achieve your goals.

Trust in yourself and in all the hard work you are putting in the pursuit of this dream :-)

And btw, failing is only if you fall and don't get up again.

Yes?

Yes :-)
