So I was wandering around the web the other day and I found these cute little French shorts about insects. In one of them two of those little green caterpillery things fall in love. In another two lady-man-bugs compete for a lady-lady-bug's love. Another is about little ladybugs' education. SO CUTE. There are so many more shorts. And they are just so adorable.

They're just so darling. The one I'm posting here is about a green caterpillary thing that sees a picture of the sea while he is eating a newspaper and decides to take a pilgrimage to it.



I love it. I know it's just a little story but it moves me in a big way. This little guy gets an idea in his head. He pursues it, even though he doesn't know exactly what he's getting into. He encounters all sorts of trials, improvises transportation, sacrifices what he knows so he can squidge ever closer to his goal.

I love the idea of a pilgrimage. We move towards a destination or an idea. Sometimes the destination is chosen for us, and sometimes the destination arises from a dream or feelings we have. But for whatever reason, somehow there are certain times in our lives we are compelled to make a pilgrimage. There is a nagging drive that tells us we just can't stay where we are now. So we go. And sometimes it works and sometimes not.

That's what makes us all special. We all keep going and we keep dreaming even when the path ahead is dark and scary. Even when that dream takes us on long difficult journeys that scares us even before we start. We go when we only have a vague idea of what we want. But when we follow the dream, and when we move on the hope, no matter what happens we will be better for that journey.
